Protective gloves - General requirements and test method

EN 420 / EN ISO 21420 defines general requirements and test methods for all types of protective gloves, irrespective of the type of additional protective features.
The standard does not provide a basis for certification on its own, but for simpler protective gloves in PPE category I, only EN 420/ EN ISO 21420 is used as a basis for the manufacturer’s required control measures.

The standard defines the following:
⦁ Sizing for gloves and hands
⦁ Gloves must not present a risk or hazard, or cause allergic reactions
⦁ Material specifications regarding the approved pH value and levels of chromium VI in leather, etc.
⦁ Assessment of the dexterity properties of the glove
⦁ Labeling of gloves and packaging

EN 420 / EN ISO 21420 is always used in the verification of protective gloves but the standard is not symbolised in a pictogram.
