Being pregnant in the construction and tech industry hasn’t always been easy, at least when it comes to how to dress when the belly starts to grow. But now everything is changing. Blåkläder is permeated by a culture in which they always see the possibility for improvement. The company never ceases to challenge itself and the entire industry – of which maternity trousers are a very striking example. We dare and want to change the circumstances for the better for all pregnant women in the construction and technical sector. Let’s change it!

When Blåkläder announced in early 2019 that the workwear manufacturer would produce newly developed maternity trousers with the help of pregnant women around the world, the interest and dedication exceeded all expectations. As many as 2500 pregnant women applied to become test pilots of Blåkläder’s new maternity trousers. The enormous interest not only proves the need for these types of pants in the market, but it also shows that the women in the industry are a dedicated target group that is important for the future.

– Work trousers for pregnant women have to fit a body that’s changing, which is a solid job if you refuse to compromise on fit and quality. We want to produce pants that are truly tailored for this target audience, so the feedback we got from the test pilots was invaluable, says Rose-Marie Näsström, product developer at Blåkläder.

Elin Fagerlind works as an electrician and was one of the selected test pilots who tested the maternity trousers. For several years now, she has been following the issue of work clothes for pregnant women in the ELqvinna group on Facebook, where several special solutions for a growing belly were discussed. When this opportunity came to test and evaluate maternity pants, Elin immediately wanted to help.

– The more obstacles for women in the industry are removed, the better, says Elin. “I gave concrete suggestions for various updates that Blåkläder had carried out on the pants. It’s nice that they listened and actually did it, ”she concludes.

The maternity trousers are available in two models, High Vis and Service. The pants have a neutral design and are made entirely of stretch material. The maternity pants are available in 5 sizes, XS-XL, and each size has an extendable hem that is also suitable for women with longer legs. The pants are for sale at selected outlets.
